ENCOURAGEMENT & GUIDANCE FOR THE SOUL

I have listed on this page my favorite bible books and why. This will help as a bible reference in some way if you just got saved and maybe want to know where to start. Always start in the New Testament, to learn about Jesus.

My God My God

Hanging on the cross Jesus cried out "My God My God

why has thou forsaken me? Today he tells you

"never will I leave you never will I forsake you".

Hebrews 13:5

FAVORITE BIBLE BOOKS

ECCLESIASTES

The words of King Solomon who had all the riches a man could ask for, and rich in wisdom as well, came to only one conclusion. Man is nothing with out God.

I denied myself nothing my eyes desired;
I refused my heart no pleasure.
My heart took delight in all my work,
and this was the reward for all my labor.
Yet when I surveyed all that my hands had done
and what I had toiled to achieve,
everything was meaningless, a chasing after the wind;
nothing was gained under the sun.

HEBREWS
I like this book because it's very practical, it helps me to know how well I am running the christian race.

See to it, brothers, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called Today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin's deceitfulness

ROMANS
This book points out how lost & helpless humanity is, and how we can find deliverance in Christ.

This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.

EPHESIANS
I call this my prayer book. I can read through the whole book of Ephesians like a prayer, and personalize it. Here's an example;
3:14-21
For this reason I kneel before you Father, from whom your whole family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of your glorious riches you may strengthen me with power through your Spirit in my inner being, so that Christ may dwell in my heart through faith. And I pray that I, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all other saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge--that I may be filled to the measure of all of your fullness my father.
Father God you are able to do immeasurably more than all I ask or imagine, according to your power that is at work within me, to you be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen

COLOSSIANS
Paul wrote this letter to deal with false teachings. Christ is the head over every power.

For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form, and you have been given fullness in Christ, who is the head over every power and authority. In him you were also circumcised, in the putting off of the sinful nature not with a circumcision done by the hands of men but with the circumcision done by Christ, having been buried with him in baptism and raised with him through your faith in the power of God, who raised him from the dead.

GALATIANS
The "Once saved always saved" theory dies in this book.

I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you by the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel--which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned! As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let him be eternally condemned!

HOPE

Hope Over Powers Evil

WEEKLY BIBLE VERSE

1 Peter 2:22

Follow in his steps: He never sinned,
never told a lie, never answered
back when insulted; when he
suffered he did not threaten
to get even; he left his case in
the hands of God who always judges
fairly.

My thought:

You know I have heard people say
"well that's Jesus, we are not
Jesus". We may not be Jesus
but how much do we care to follow
as close to him and his ways as
possible? God knows our heart,
and if our motives are to live
close enough to God to just get
by, what kind of relationship
do you really have with God?
Or should I say what kind of
heart is that? Knowing of God
is not knowing God....I mean,
I sure hope you make it to
heaven with those thoughts.
I know I don't want to take any
chances. People in the book of
Acts were healed by Peter's
shadow, Stephen is described
as being full of the Holy Spirt,
& when being stoned to death
he looked up to the heavens and
saw Jesus standing at the right
hand of God ready to receive him.
These guys loved Jesus so much
because they really knew him, and
they didn't care what they had to
go thru to keep what they had with
him. James before he was beheaded
said I need time to be with my Lord,
and after praying and being with the
Lord he said I am ready now, and
they killed him. Are you full of the
Holy Spirit that people are being
healed as you walk by them because
the presence of God so consumes you?
Are you like Peter or James that you
treasure your intimate relationship
with Jesus no matter what your faced
with? If the answer is no, then I
think we need to go that direction
instead of wondering what we can
get away with until Jesus comes,
and then hope he takes us with
him. I challenge you to examine
your heart today. Get yourself
in line with God's word, and stop
compromising with the world. Get
so close to Jesus that nothing
in this world is worth giving him
up. Kind David said "had I not
been afflicted I would not have
sook the Lord". Please don't wait
until you can't breath from the
bottom of the barrel to seek the
Lord. Seek him everyday, because
everyday you need him. Afflictions
will come....but if God is for you,
who can be against you? Read The
Word, and Stand up and be who
he says you are.

Springs of Living Water

For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd; he will lead them to springs of living water. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes." Rev.7:17

MATTHEW 19:14

Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."
